TROOP 179 WELCOMES YOU!
WHO WE ARE
Troop 179 has a long legacy. For 51 years, Our Lady of Lourdes has been sponsoring Boy Scout Troop 179 of West Islip. Troop 179 is a youth-led troop which is very rewarding for the scouts and they have a great time. Adults (Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, Committee Members) hold support positions and provide the framework and safety in which the scouts can plan, lead and choose the activities for themselves while providing opportunities for them to seek adult leader review, signoff, and boards of review for advancement.
Troop meetings are held every Thursday at 7:30pm. At the meetings the scouts are divided into their patrols. A camping trip or activity is typically planned every month. During each campout or activity, they work on skills, teambuilding and advancement.
The troop meets from September to June and offers two options for summer camp.
Troop 179 will teach you skills that will help you throughout your entire life. Leadership is just one of these skills. If you are interested in learning more about Boy Scouts and our Troop, please contact us at: troop179cc@yahoo.com.

Events
Friends Of Troop 179 will be hosting their annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser 1/27/2024 (snow date 2/3/2024 ) from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at
Our Lady of Lourdes Church, school cafeteria, 455 Hunter Avenue, West Islip, NY 11795. $10.00 per person (includes 2 $1 raffle tickets) all you can eat
spaghetti, meatballs, bread, salad & dessert. Tickets can be purchased at the door. If you can’t make the event the troop will be taking pre-orders after mass on select weekends at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. You choose a pick up time.
